MGI, in synergy with Marmi Ghirardi, is participating in "THE BIG 5" and "Middle East Stone," scheduled at the Dubai World Trade Centre, December 4-7, 2023.
An international event dedicated to companies and professionals in the world of Architecture, Sustainability, Design and Construction, "THE BIG 5," now in its 43rd edition, is once again the most important for the construction sector in the Gulf area. Concurrently and in the same location, "Middle East Stone," the seventh edition of the trade fair specializing in natural stone and related processing technologies, will be held with the support of Confindustria Marmomacchine.
MGI, which has reached the brilliant threshold of 75 years in business, and GHIRARDI, which is celebrating 85 candles instead, will be present as part of the ICE - Agency for the Promotion Abroad and Internationalization of Italian Companies Collective,
Sheikh Rashid Hall, at booth B202 (MGI) and B200 (GHIRARDI), respectively.
As a further development, this edition, will feature marble quarried in its own quarries as the absolute protagonists: from the precious and unmistakable Statuario Caldia® and Calacatta Caldia® to Bianco Carrara and Lapys Grey®, from Perlato Sicilia Cofano® to Riviera Beige®, from Botticino Classico® to Verde Issorie®, with a focus onsustainable economics in quarrying and design.
According to the results of the industry LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) carried out by the Pietra Naturale Autentica network in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin, the average environmental impacts of 1 sqm of 2 cm thick Caldia® marble slab with surface finish are 7.1 kg CO₂ eq/m². This is lower than the weighted average of the Italiannatural stones covered by the study (7.9 kg CO₂ eq/m²) and rewards KM0 processing and careful energy management. Not only that. For the same intended use, it is also more environmentally beneficial than a slab of ceramic material. In fact, according to available EPDs, ceramic tile (1.2 cm thick) has an impact ranging from 15.5 to 29.9 CO₂ eq/m². This result confirms the ecological properties of marble, an excellent choice for combining beauty and sustainability.
With projects worth a combined $6.5 trillion, the Middle East and Africa provide a vast field of opportunities for the involvement and contribution of Italian companies. "We believe that our offering of 100% Made In Italy marbles combined with significant expertise can make an important contribution in these markets," said Paolo Agonigi, CEO MGI.
