In the setting of the Panoramic Hall of the Livorno Aquarium and live streaming, MGI promotes a workshop dedicated to Architects oriented to deepen the characteristics and ways of using marble in Architecture.
After institutional greetings by Marco Niccolini, President of the Ordine Architetti PPC di Livorno, Paolo Agonigi, CEO of the MGI Group, and Daniele Menichini, President of In/Arch Toscana, Architect Giovanni Giorgi will deliver a lecture on the best approach to designing and using marble at its best, between classic and contemporary. An in-depth look at the concept of environmental sustainability will be given by Jan Knikker, who has been with MVRDV since 2008, where as Partner, he directs development and public relations activities, forming a Client-oriented, fast-paced and strategic firm that includes a strong team. Founded in Rotterdam, the firm has been active since 1993 internationally in every area of architecture and urban planning, with a mission oriented toward participatory design, involving clients, stakeholders and professionals interacting from the earliest stages of the creative process.
The goal is a choral reflection on the use of marble in design, as well as to understand in what innovative ways it can contribute to widespread application, in relation also to sustainable use of natural resources. The meaning of the word "marble," which derives from the Greek marmaros and literally means "shining stone," already contains in nuce the great potential of this material used since antiquity.
